Central Michigan University Research Corporation will host an informational seminar on funding sources for small businesses Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Center for Applied Research and Technology.
Biotechnology Business Consultants is co-sponsoring the seminar, "Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer 101," which is aimed at the greater entrepreneurial community. Professionals from academic institutions and economic development organizations also are encouraged to attend.
Key presenters from Biotechnology Business Consultants will focus on available funding opportunities from the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Department of Defense and the National Science Foundation.
Participants will learn the nuances of funding agencies and eligibility requirements, in addition to gaining a foundational understanding of SBIR/STTR grants and contracts.
"The Small Business Innovative Research Program is one of the most successful ways for small companies to fund innovative research," said Nathan Long, president of CMU-RC. "By sponsoring this kind of training in Mount Pleasant, CMU-RC aims to help mid-Michigan start-up companies secure funding from a variety of sources."
Cost of the seminar is $50. To register, contact Audra Buchanan at 989-774-2424.
