Central Michigan University police arrested a 21-year-old man Tuesday evening while investigating a report of a suspicious person in Calkins Residence Hall.
CMU police detective sergeant Jeffery Pickler says university officers investigating the complaint spotted the suspect getting into a car, which they stopped a short time later. A search of the vehicle found suspected stolen items, including a wallet and laptop computer that had been taken from a room in Fabiano Residence Hall earlier in the day.
The suspect, Jesse Young of Warren, was arrested and arraigned on five charges including home invasion, receiving and concealing stolen property, and driving on a suspended license.
CMU police continue to investigate the incident. They do not know at this time if the case is connected to the theft of several other laptops from unlocked residence hall rooms in the past several days.
