CMU driving center assists older drivers to make roads safer
The National Highway Traffic Safety Association reported that more than 12 percent of Michigan's fatal traffic crashes in 2007 involved drivers 65 years of age and older. Grant awarded to CMU museum creates local collaboration
Local elementary school students will have the opportunity to sleuth out clues as cultural detectives, while brushing up on their geography and other social studies skills, thanks to a grant from the Kellogg Youth Fund. CMU Volunteer Center leaders receive national service awards
A Central Michigan University staff member and student have earned national recognition for their efforts to provide public service opportunities for students. Both are leaders in CMU's Alternative Breaks program, which partners with regional, national and international organizations and sends students on service- and advocacy-oriented trips emphasizing a variety of social issues, including healthy lifestyles, HIV/AIDS, poverty, park preservation, substance abuse, disabilities, sexual abuse, education and the environment.
